This along with VA, Illegal Immigration and National Security are my “lines in the sand.” I will fight “Universal Free Healthcare”, corruption in the VA and “Illegal Immigration” with my last dying breath. You want to see “Free Health Care” come with me or a member of one of the 44 Veteran’s Service Organizations” to visit a VA hospital, especially VA Long Care nursing homes, which by the way, are overflowing with young men and women suffering Traumatic Brain Injury and will never leave.  Ask the people in Canada why their Doctors are closing their practices and moving to the US. Ask the people in Great Britain where they have to wait months and months to see a Doctor. (A very common problem with the VA) Research the countries that have “Free” healthcare or socialized medicine. I offer as a failed model of “Free” healthcare; the failed, corrupted Veteran’s Administration. If the government can’t manage timely, quality healthcare at VA Hospitals, what in the world makes you think they would be successful for you.

            You want “Free Universal Health Care”?  Tell your Congressman and Senators to make you eligible for the healthcare they created for themselves and their families.  There is no space available for me or other military retirees to use. But, if you are a member of Congress or House of Representatives you are given access to Bethesda Naval Hospital.

            There is no way politicians can promise Health Care for over 50 million people. Firstly, there are not enough Doctors and Nurses. Secondly, there are not enough Hospitals. In Georgia 80% of Primary Care Physicians are near or are going to declare bankruptcy. The future trend is for Primary Care Physicians offices to have; one doctor, one nurse and one receptionist. No paperwork. They will supply you with the paperwork so you can submit it to your insurance company. They will be cash only and payment expected at time of service. The “Free” healthcare for illegal aliens is one of the major problems. Their services are not “free,” that cost is passed on to other US citizens to pay. In 2003, Gwinnett County Georgia alone spent $33 million on illegal aliens. That is not counting the counties normal indigent population. Part of the high cost is Medicare, Medicaid fraud. Last year New York ponied up $10 million for Medicaid fraud. There are other more viable solutions than “Free Universal Health Care.” Electronic medical records would reduce cost by 40%. Allowing cheaper drugs to come in from Canada would lower costs. Much of the cost of producing medications are low but marked up 300/400%, in some cases 1000%. For example, it cost Pharmaceutical companies $.35 to make 100 pills but those same pills might cost you between $4.00/$85.00 a tablet. There is information on the Web if you care to look. There are many smarter options available.

            If “Free Universal Health Care” is implemented, our health care system will become like other 3^rd world countries. Without doctors, nurses, infrastructure they will have to deny health care to the elderly and less productive members of society. Do you want the government telling you, you can’t have a knee replacement because you are too young and it is only good for 10 years and over your life time it would take 6 or 7 different replacement; or telling you, you are too old, that you will wear out before the knee does and therefore they are going to perform that procedure on a more productive illegal alien?
