I worked on a farm when I was younger, that planted hay, peanuts, and corn, and grew cows, chickens, and sheep. I have pulled coffee weed out of peanuts where the days were so long, by the time you were finished, it was time to start over. One day my straw boss decided it was time for me to learn to drive the tractor. I proceeded to run over the only 55 gallon oil drum in a 40 acre field. Needless to say, my farming days were terminated. I know just enough about farming to be dangerous.
However, I have talked to many farmers, and the ones with whom I have conversed are divided 50/50 about their position on supplements.
I do believe that farmers need safety nets. I need to be educated on farming and farming related industries. I know cotton farmers have to pay a set price just for putting cotton in the gin; then have to pay another fee after the cotton is processed.
I would appreciate any input/proposals from farmers. Tell me what you think, not what you think I want to hear. For smaller responses please use the E-mail hyper-link provided, it will come straight to my personal computer. For larger responses and proposals, please send them to my P. O. Box.
